Nomes and Daisys
If fantasy worlds, curious specimen boxes and miniature dragons make your heart race, you’re in the right corner of Kookaburra Hollow. Nomes & Daisy is the brain-child of Naomi—known to friends simply as Nomes—who swaps sleep for clay to craft enchanting, one-of-a-kind treasures entirely by hand.
The journey began in 2017, when Nomes packed up her first table for a fairy festival in Logan Village. The market’s spell was instant. What started as an after-hours creative outlet slowly tugged her away from a 15-year career in childcare until, in June 2023, she took the leap to sculpt full-time. The business name captures that leap of faith: Nomes for Naomi, and Daisy for her young daughter, blending imagination with family roots.
Every piece you’ll find in the Nomes & Daisy collection is hand-sculpted from coloured polymer clay—no moulds, no shortcuts, just hours of patient detail work that often stretches past midnight. Because each creature, chess piece or specimen artefact is formed individually, no two will ever be identical; your dragon hatchling or fairy mushroom really is the only one of its kind.
Ask Nomes about inspiration and she’ll point to her Nana, an artist who explored everything from painting to papier-mâché. Childhood memories of joint art sessions—whether in Australia or New Zealand—still fuel her creativity. Even today they share crochet projects, a connection that led Nomes to design custom-covered crochet hooks so her Nana could keep crafting in comfort.
Personal favourites? Her museum-style specimen boxes brimming with tiny fantasy flora and fauna, and elaborate clay chess sets where each piece tells its own story across the board. They’re labours of love that turn late-night ideas into tangible magic.
